TVUSD Administrators, Staff, Students, Families, and Community Members:

We are excited to welcome you to the 2021-22 school year in TVUSD! As we plan and prepare, we want to provide you with some important information about what to expect.

School starts on Wednesday, August 11th, and we cannot wait to have students return to campus. Schools will resume with full-time instruction, five days each week, and students will have access to recess, lunch, electives, and all of the activities that we are all accustomed to in a traditional school year.

In July, the California Department of Public Health issued their 2021-22 School Guidance Plan. Shortly thereafter, many pieces of information began circulating that were incorrect and conflicting. It quickly became evident that we needed to again seek support from our legal counsel to understand and decipher all of the information. Our goal has been a simple one, to continue to provide high-quality teaching and learning for all students while keeping everyone safe, exploring learning options, and maximizing choices for all of our families.

At this point in time, after a great deal of conferring with legal counsel, our insurance carriers, other school districts, CDPH, and the Riverside County Department of Public Health (RCPH), TVUSD is confirming that all students will be required to wear masks while indoors. Face masks will be optional when students are outdoors. All schools in California are required to follow these same guidelines.

We acknowledge and respect that not all TVUSD families have the same viewpoints on the State’s mask requirements. For those who opt or prefer not to wear a mask while indoors at school, we have amazing virtual programs, TK-12, that can be personally designed to foster some on-campus experiences if the parents and students desire. We encourage you to reach out if you have questions about any of these programs, but especially our new Home INstead INnovation Academy.
