I am a big fan of High Tea, tea parties, and anything tea related! I even convinced my husband to take me to High Tea at Waldorf Astoria during our most recent trip to Las Vegas! When I was pregnant with my son, my daughter and I started a tradition of having tea party dates, but it was hard to find a place that was kid-friendly, and enjoyable for me too! We often created our own tea parties at home, inviting our pets, stuffed animals, and dolls to join in on the fun – but nothing compares to a real High Tea experience!
Lucky for us, we found Cottage Tea Parties, a local treasure here in Temecula – a place for kid-friendly herbal teas, endless dress up, and fun tea party food! This place isn’t just for girls; it is also for boys and for adults to enjoy! Last week, my daughter Emily, age 9, my son Jackson, age 6, and I had a chance to experience High Tea at Cottage Tea Parties, and it was a day we will never forget! Here are some highlights from our tea party experience!
Endless Dress Up Options!
Wow, there was SO much to choose from, for boys AND girls! My daughter was in shock as she looked through walls filled with every princess dress you could imagine. There were shoes, hats, boas, purses, headbands, and jewelry; the opportunities to create an entire outfit, along with accessories, were endless! I think my kids could have stayed in there for hours! My son had so much fun trying on the different hats and both kids had a blast checking out their dress up choices in the mirror. This is such a great addition to the High Tea and would make for a great start to a birthday party. The dress up opportunity was a wonderful first stop as we headed into the room for High Tea!

Incredible Ambiance!
The room was darling, with each table set with care. Distinctive tea cups, doilies, golden silverware, and beautiful artwork surrounded us – adding a special touch the experience. There are so many great opportunities for pictures, especially the beautiful floral wall when you walk in! We played “I spy” while we were drinking tea and it was so fun using our eyes to explore all the beautiful décor.

So many tea choices - herbal tea for kids too!
When you sit down you can see the daily special teas as well as a chalkboard filled with teas of every flavor you can imagine! My kids had the herbal peach apricot tea and had a lot of fun adding sugar cubes and milk. It was the perfect time for me to reinforce table etiquette and help them try something new; we don’t often drink tea, so this was a real treat! Giving them the chance to add sugar and cream to their liking was empowering and their manners exceeded my expectations. I had the cucumber melon tea - it was refreshing, light, and delicious too. I could drink it every day!

Yummy tea party food and treats!
This is the perfect menu for kids! After being seated, you get to choose from three different tea sandwiches which come with a seasonal fruit cup, scones with clotted cream and jam, and a beautiful assortment of desserts! My kids (and I) were in tea party heaven! My son enjoyed PB&J, Turkey & Cheese, and Tuna. My daughter loved the Tuna too and ordered double of the Cucumber and Cream Cheese – a tea party staple! I thoroughly enjoyed the Chicken Salad and Tuna on gluten free bread (which is an option if you can let them know in advance).
