Every child should know what it feels like to dance.

This is the founding principle of Tutu School. They believe that motor skill development is infinitely enhanced by Tchaikovsky and Bach, that young imaginations benefit immensely from exploring the enchanted worlds of swans and sugar plums, and that twirling should be a fundamental part of any childhood.

Throughout my years as a professional ballet dancer, this school was always a dream of mine… In that dream I envisioned a quaint boutique of a ballet school that would provide a creative dance education experience for children, and a place where students would be urged to fully exercise their imaginations as well as their bodies.

Today, I am proud to say that my dream has been realized in each and every one of our Tutu Schools, all independently owned by lovingly chosen directors, and all boasting exceptional teachers and a carefully crafted curriculum.

We never take for granted the significance of our role in introducing children to the beauty and intrinsic magic of ballet, and that – as much as my original dream of Tutu School - remains at the heart of everything we do.

As we have said at the end of each and every Tutu School class, since the very first one in 2008, "Thank you for the music. Thank you for you the dancing. Thank you for the magic!"

Class Divisions

The goal in the Tutu Toddlers division is to work with you to engage your little one and give them an introduction to ballet they'll never forget. Why? Because at Tutu School they believe that exposing children at the earliest possible age to creativity, movement, and music can only lead to good things, and that dancing out stories not only exercises little bodies but also nurtures big imaginations.  Classes include story time and coloring time at the end of class.

* A Parent or guardian must be present during class, and caregiver participation is requested.

Classes in their Exploring Ballet division strike a perfect balance between structure and creativity. In this division they begin carefully laying the earliest foundation of ballet technique, but they always compliment the class work with fun, imaginative activities that keep young dancers captivated, engaged, and utterly in love with ballet.

Just because you've entered the early years of grade school doesn't mean you're ready to put aside the joys of twirling and fairytales... And why should it? In the Primary Ballet Prep division they develop pure, fundamental ballet technique that will eventually allow their students to graduate to a more disciplined study of the craft - when their little bodies are ready. In the meantime, they'll continue to practice their pliés with a healthy helping of magical fun, thank you.

BALLET IS FOR EVERYBODY!

Children of all genders are welcome at Tutu School. Whatever dreams they end up dreaming, the skills young dancers develop with them – confidence, coordination, and creativity - will help to chase them. Whether their favorite part of class is to blast off like a rocket ship, gallop like a unicorn, or get lost in Mozart - movement and music are gifts that should be shared with all children.

Tutu School's Ballet Birthday Parties are the perfect way to help your little swan or Sugar Plum Fairy celebrate their special day! Each and every party includes a brief ballet class, a special birthday story featuring the guest of honor, a delicious cupcake picnic, and delightful party favors.
