PROGRAMS

We meet each student at his/her level and help them achieve their goals on their Tae Kwon Do journey to Black Belt.

Tiny Tigers- Ages 4-7

The ATA Tiger curriculum program was developed specifically for preschool age children ages 4 through 7. This program offers children a strong foundation in essential character qualities such as courtesy, respect, and discipline.

In addition, the program is designed to improve children's motor skills and enhance their ability to pay attention and follow directions. This curriculum provides students with the most fun and exciting training methods available for this age group.

ATA Youth Program - Ages 7-12

ATA Karate for Kids is a specialized program created exclusively for children ages 7 through 12 and teaches the fundamentals of martial arts. The foundation of the Karate for Kids curriculum is the education and development of life skills such as positive mental attitude, high goal setting, perseverance, self-control and confidence.

Karate for Kids training is designed to be fun and fulfilling for each student. This is because Taekwondo is an individual activity rather than a team sport. Therefore every student is an active and valuable participant in class. They work out with kids their own age and progress at their own pace.

ATA Teen and Adults - Ages 14 and Beyond

The ATA Martial Arts curriculum program is customized for teens and adults.  Unlike a children's program, this program's focus is on high-intensity fitness and real self-defense that applies in today's world.

Most teens and adults can only do so many aerobic classes or run so many solo miles before they start dreaming of something more enjoyable and exciting to do to stay in shape. This ATA martial arts curriculum is a great way to stay in shape that doesn't become dull or routine, because as soon as you get better and learn more there are always more challenges ahead to keep you inspired and coming back to the school.

Special Abilities Program

To be eligible to participate in our Special Abilities classes, you must be at least 6 years old and identified by an agency or professional as having one of the following conditions:

Intellectual Disabilities, Cognitive Delays as measured by formal assessment, and Significant Learning /Vocational problems due to cognitive delay that require/ have required specially designed instruction.

Students will learn the same Songahm curriculum as everyone within our academy, but in order to advance in rank, expectations are modified. To earn a new rank,

Special Abilities students will be asked to perform certain moves, or combos from the curriculum. An example of this is in a testing is performing a hook-kick round-kick combo from their designated ‘form’ with improved balance and improved height (as high as their belt). With weapons training, they might be asked to perform the 9 basic strikes with that weapon and break a board.

We change the class focus each testing cycle. All modifications take into consideration any muscular and coordination barriers the student might experience.

Leadership Program - For all ages and belt levels

A leader is someone who relies on vision, creativity, and persistence to empower others and earn their respect. At Giordano's ATA Martial Arts, we are committed to helping mold the next generation of leaders who have success far beyond the walls of the martial arts classroom. Our ATA Leadership Program is designed for students who wish to take the next step in their journey.

Legacy Program - Starting at age 13, you can enter the program to become a certified instructor at age 18.

The ATA Legacy Instructor Training program is the pipeline through which future ATA instructors flow and which school owners leave their legacy. There are four steps to one’s becoming a certified instructor, and each step has its requirements and level of abilities. Anyone may join the Legacy Instructor Training program, but a student must be at least 18 years old to become a fully certified instructor.

Master Giordano's Martial Arts career started at age 11, after he survived severe bullying that left him hospitalized. He has since vowed to work hard to help those who need the skills to defend themselves, build confidence, & have a place they would always feel safe & protected.

Master Giordano took the time to tell us more about his childhood experiences that led him to Martial Arts and why he is so passionate about now sharing what he's learned through martial arts with others.

Arielle: What was your experience as a child with bullying?

Jared: My experience as a child with bullying was a traumatic one. I have suffered so much with my emotions such as anxiety, depression, betrayal, frustration and fear. Those that said they were my friends, betrayed me to become the bullies. I wanted to defend myself and stand up for myself, but I felt like I couldn't because I didn't know how. I would cry myself to sleep at night believing that no one wanted to be my friend. I was also scared to go to school because I didn't want to keep getting picked on all the time. Of course I did have my good days. But my school life was definitely a difficult one.

Arielle:  What made you turn to martial arts after your experience with bullying?

Jared:  I have always wanted to do martial arts because I mostly grew up with Ninja Turtles and Power Rangers. I wanted to do what they could do. Plus I have always heard about the martial arts through movies and TV shows. I wanted to get into something to help me believe in myself and grow confidence, as well as to teach me to stand up for myself so I didn’t get bullied anymore. I always wanted to do it, but my parents never put me into it until I suppose I needed it the most. I finally started my journey at 11 years old. I remember the excitement I felt the day my dad told me that he signed me up and I start class Monday, and the day I put on my uniform and white belt.  I felt excited and knew that everything was about to change. In fact, the school district actually paid a portion of the expenses to help me build, or regain my confidence and self esteem.

Arielle:  How did martial arts help you overcome bullying?

Jared:  The martial arts helped me overcome bullying in many different ways. First, was the self-defense, the conditioning of my body with building discipline to improve myself physically.  That helped me to gain confidence in my abilities. Next, was the verbal practice. From here, I developed how to speak and stand up for myself using my voice first before ever resulting into a physical altercation. Along with this, I learned to develop better social skills to help make the right friends. I also learned Life Skills and Leadership. This allowed me to know how to better overcome myself and develop a new me.  I also learned how to use these tools to help others at the same time. These attributes are just a few of the many things that the martial arts has taught me. My list would probably be much longer than this. Overall, I became the man I am today with the help of the martial arts.

Arielle:  What made you want to share your martial arts knowledge with others?

Jared: While I was learning about leadership and life skills, I learned both how to help better myself, as well as help others around me, or those in need. I had joined the leadership program when I was midway through earning my black belt. While growing and being molded into the leadership role, I had realized a few special traits I had that I didn't know I had, such as helping kids. From there, I started to learn how to be an instructor and eventually joined the instructor program when I received my first-degree black belt at the age of 14. I knew that I didn't know everything just because I became a black belt. I still had much more to learn and I wanted to continually grow and improve, especially as a black belt. It was then while I was learning to become an instructor that it dawned on me that there was a reason for all of my hardships. I was suppose to go through those things so I could be a light and mentor to others that could be going through the same things I did. It was at that moment I knew that this was my calling. I wanted to one day operate my own martial arts school to maybe prevent others from going through the same things that I went through and to be a beacon of light and safe haven for others who may be experiencing the same things I did. Martial Arts changed my life forever and molded and shaped me for my future success, I wanted to pass along this knowledge to others.  I want to help others build the same success for their future. I have been in the bully prevention and bully recovery world for well over 20 years. This is why I’m so invested in it still to this day and know this is what I am made to do. Martial Arts is not about an after school activity, but a way of life.  It is an investment in yourself to train up for future success. This investment is positive and worth every penny! You are never too old or too late to make a change!

Arielle:  What was the process for you to become a Master for those of us who don't understand the different levels and honors in the ATA world?

Jared:  First, a Master can mean many different things. A Master is someone who has devoted and dedicated themselves for the rest of their lives into learning something. For example, a musician is a master in his/her instrument because he/she has devoted himself/herself for the rest of their lives to become something great at that particular thing. For me, becoming a Master in Songahm Taekwondo did not just start when I became a 6th degree black belt, nor did it start when I became a 1st degree black belt. The road to mastership began when I took my first step onto the mat. From humble beginnings, I will never forget where I came from and what I have overcome in my life, even till this very day. I don't look back to regret, but I look back to see my progression from where I started to where I am now.  After all of the countless hours of training every day, fulfilling my reading and writing homework, doing my research, and applying what I learned to myself as much as possible, becoming a Master is one of the absolute highest honors that anyone can obtain. It shows that I have learned to master myself and mastered the art of Songahm Taekwondo to the best of my abilities. Guess what?  It doesn't stop there! I will never be perfect and that's ok. There is always more to learn. We should never stop learning, growing, succeeding, or improving.

Arielle: What is next for you?

Jared:  This question is kind of a broad spectrum. I am thankful for now becoming a new dad, a journey has been bestowed upon me to know how to raise my own family in all the ways that I have learned to better shape them in life and character. The next thing is to continue to expand my martial arts schools in the area so I can reach as many people as possible. I also want to mold and shape instructors who work for me, to pour into the lives of the students, both young and old, and maybe even help them plant other schools of their own to continue the legacy. I am also currently part of the Regional Masters Council under the training department. Basically, I’m in charge of putting together events for our region to come together for some great training for all black belts, color belts, and instructors. I try to be a big community leader and role model in this area since I have lived here for 32 years. I am very actively involved in my local church as head of the security team and as well as both Murrieta and Temecula Chambers. My heart for my community is immeasurable. I will continue the work that was given to me until it’s time for me to go home.
