Have you visited the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway yet?  If you haven't, it's a must do and is a great day trip from the Temecula-Murrieta-French Valley area or can even be part of your weekend getaway to Palm Springs.

Palm Springs has often been a go-to destination for Spring Break or during the Summer Break and The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway is an awesome attraction to add to your itinerary on your next trip to Palm Springs.  However, you can take a trip to the aerial tramway any time of year and it makes a great day trip on the weekend or on your next day off from work.

We had the chance to go up there during the winter season and enjoyed seeing the winter wonderland that's up at the top of the mountains.  There was lots of space for sledding and snow play.  After these recent storms, there's even more fresh snow up there for you to enjoy!  The store at the mountain station has sleds for sale if you need to purchase one, but if you already have one, you are more than welcome to bring it on the tramway.

Some notes for parents heading up there:

  • Strollers are allowed on the tramway (if you're going up there during the snowy season, they don't do well in the snow).
  • The floor of the tramway rotates so you can get a 360 view of the valley/mountains as you are going up or coming down.
  • There are multiple places at both stations to get snacks or whole meals if you didn't pack any for your kids or they just don't like what you brought (this has definitely happened to me before 😒).  My kids were all about the chicken strips and fries!
  • There are bathrooms at both the valley and mountain stations.
  • There are multiple parking lots for the Tramway.  Some parking lots are far away from the valley station but there is a shuttle that comes by to pick people up from the parking lots further away from the station.
  • Lines can get long on weekends to get onto the tramway.  I suggest purchasing tickets ahead of time and arriving very early.
  • They have an app you can download to your phone that has maps of the stations and state park, augmented reality clips to use when checking out the museum at the mountain station, a self guided tour, virtual reality views and more.
  • They have a tramsters program for kids:  The Tramsters Club is open to any child ages 3-10. It is free to join and members receive a 10% discount on Tram Rides, a free birthday ride certificate for the child and 10% discount on gift shop purchases. Please allow 14 days for membership to become active.
