At Pesh Orthodontics, sometimes they diagnose early or interceptive orthodontic treatment to guide growth and development. This is often referred to as Phase I Treatment due to the fact that all permanent teeth have not erupted.

Goals for Phase I Treatment include:

  • Resolving oral habits that will prohibit permanent teeth from erupting normally.
  • Improving constricted airways
  • Avoiding extraction of permanent teeth during full or comprehensive orthodontic treatment.
  • Reducing the risk of trauma to anterior teeth, especially when they are flared out.
  • Improving self-confidence
  • Customers receiving two-phase orthodontic treatment typically get a rest period in between the first and second phases.

In Phase 2, everything begins to come together at last! This phase is generally initiated once all of the patient's lower permanent second molars have started to erupt thru the gums. This can occur anytime between 10-13 years of age. Clear aligners or braces can be used to achieve the final alignment. A new set of removable retainers will then be fabricated to ensure the teeth stay in their new positions for years to come.

Rest assured that Pesh Orthodontics will take into account each patient’s specific needs when starting Phase 2. If you have any questions about starting this next phase, please text or give them a call at 951-698-8200 . You can also save yourself a trip into the office by clicking the button below to submit Six Simple Selfies. If Dr. Pesh sees that the teeth are ready, one of their Smile Directors can put an updated quote together for you to review.
