A vacant 2.3-acre property at the northwest corner of Clinton Keith and McElwain roads in Murrieta is slated to become a carwash and daycare center.
During Tuesday night's Murrieta City Council meeting, a lingering piece of the puzzle required to complete the project was given a unanimous green light. Council members approved the sale of a 3,049-square-foot piece of city-owned surplus land to Southern California-based Ashdon Development for $70,200. The tiny parcel along McElwain Road was needed for the project to allow for ingress and egress into the new businesses, and the city felt it was better to sell the land to Ashdon rather than hold onto it. Ashdon is the project developer.
Development at the site is well underway. The project was initially approved by the city in May 2022, and once completed the property will house a 4,100-square-foot express carwash and a 10,000-square-foot daycare center.
