Attention Temecula Valley Unified School District parents and community members! Big changes are on the horizon as the Riverside County Registrar of Voters has officially certified a recall election for TVUSD President Dr. Joseph Komrosky. Here's what you need to know.

Recall Election Underway: The Registrar of Voters confirmed that a petition, backed by a significant number of valid signatures, has paved the way for a recall election targeting Dr. Komrosky. With 5,273 signatures submitted and 4,884 declared valid, well exceeding the required minimum, the recall election is set to take place in Trustee Area 4.

Timeline and What's Next: The TVUSD governing board now has 14 days to determine the election date, and Patch has reached out to the district and Dr. Komrosky for their comments on the matter.

One Temecula Valley PAC's Role: Leading the charge for the recall is One Temecula Valley PAC, which played a pivotal role in collecting signatures and pushing for change. Their efforts have not gone unnoticed, with Trustee Jennifer Wiersma and former Trustee Danny Gonzalez also facing scrutiny.

Community Concerns and Criticisms: The recall effort was sparked by concerns over several contentious issues, including the banning of critical race theory, controversial critical race theory "panel," censorship of instruction about California's gay rights movement, and other decisions that have led to legal fees and drawn criticism from national organizations and state leaders.

A Divided Board: With the departure of Gonzalez, the TVUSD governing board is now evenly split. Trustee Wiersma aligns with Dr. Komrosky, while the remaining trustees—Allison Barclay and Steven Schwartz—have taken a different stance.

What's at Stake: This recall election signifies a community's call for change, rejecting what some see as divisive and wasteful policymaking. One Temecula Valley PAC co-founder Jeff Pack emphasizes that this is a crucial step toward ensuring good governance in the city and region.
