Murrieta PD Takes Action: Directed Enforcement on Washington Ave

Murrieta, CA – Addressing community concerns and ensuring road safety, the Murrieta Police Department Traffic Bureau executed a Directed Enforcement operation on Washington Ave between Kalmia Street and Calle Del Oso Oro on January 29, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. The initiative aimed to curb recent issues of speeding and other vehicle code violations in the area.

Seven dedicated motor officers actively patrolled the corridor, focusing on Primary Collision Factor (PCF) violations, which are often the leading causes of accidents in the city. During this operation, a total of 71 traffic stops were conducted, resulting in 62 citations and nine warnings issued.

The breakdown of citations includes 39 for speeding, 11 for talking/using a cell phone, 1 for running a traffic light, 2 for running a stop sign, and 9 miscellaneous citations. Notably, one motorist received a citation for exceeding 78 mph in a posted 40 mph zone.
