Taekwondo athletes from Quest Taekwondo competed in the California Unified Taekwondo Association California State Championships on April 5-7 at the Selland Arena in Fresno, CA. According to Dona Conklin, spokesperson for the studio, Team Quest brought home 26 medals in the event: 13 golds, 6 silvers, and 7 bronzes.

California Unified Taekwondo Association (CUTA) sponsors the state teams for National and International competitions and hosts the annual state championships, providing a platform for athletes to showcase their skills.

From Yellow Belts to World-Class Black Belts, the 19 medaling Quest athletes each qualified for the upcoming USA Taekwondo National Championships, which will be held in Fort Worth, Texas, this July 2024.

Two members of Team Quest, Dana Vargas and Isa Conklin, made their debut on the World Class Blackbelt stage.

Despite being underdogs, they achieved a formidable feat, emerging victorious by securing 1st place in their divisions in the exhilarating sparring category.

Each athlete conquered three matches, earning their spot on the CUTA team.

Both girls will proudly represent California and the United States in their respective divisions in an upcoming international championship in Mexico later this year.

Quest athletes also brought 2024 Nevada State Championships back home to California with winning performances in Las Vegas just this past weekend.

Taekwondo is the traditional Korean martial art of kicking and punching. Its discipline has been shown to enhance the lives of children and adults.

Quest Taekwondo was founded in 2006 by former Filipino Olympian Master Walter Dean Vargas.

Drawing upon several decades of experience on the world stage as a competitor, coach, and mentor, Master Vargas continues his QUEST to pass on his knowledge and to mold the next generation of Taekwondo champions.
