As a local mom invested in the community, I’m always excited to hear about new developments that enhance our city's charm and provide more family-friendly options. Recently, during Wednesday night's Temecula Planning Commission meeting, plans were approved for an exciting project set to revitalize the corner of Rancho California and Ynez roads. With only minimal opposition from the public, the once-vacant Claim Jumper Restaurant & Saloon is making way for something fresh and vibrant.

In its place, two new establishments will take root: an Ono Hawaiian BBQ and a Better Buzz Coffee Roasters. These additions promise not only culinary delights but also a boost to the local economy and a refreshing facelift for the area.

The project, situated in the heart of Temecula Town Center strip mall at 29540 Rancho California Road, received resounding approval from the commissioners, paving the way for demolition of the outdated Claim Jumper building. In its footprint, two contemporary structures will rise, hosting the 2,839-square-foot Ono Hawaiian BBQ and the 1,719-square-foot Better Buzz Coffee Roasters.

What's particularly exciting is that both establishments will offer drive-thru lanes, catering to busy families on the go. With the convenience of drive-thru options, parents can grab a quick bite or their favorite brew without the hassle of parking, perfect for those hectic mornings or afternoons when time is of the essence.

While concerns about traffic were addressed, with no new driveways planned off Rancho California or Ynez roads, the addition of a pedestrian ramp from Rancho California Road ensures accessibility for all, meeting the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Although there was some opposition, with one member of the public suggesting a more upscale project for the prime location, the overwhelming support from both residents and businesses underscores the community's anticipation for these new offerings.

Better Buzz Coffee Roasters, known for its organic brews, and Ono Hawaiian BBQ, renowned for its island-inspired dishes, bring fresh flavors and a relaxed atmosphere to the area. With its commitment to quality and community, Better Buzz is already a beloved establishment in San Diego and promises to become a staple in Temecula. Similarly, Ono Hawaiian BBQ's expansion into our city brings a taste of the islands closer to home, adding diversity to our culinary landscape.

As we eagerly await the completion of these developments, it's clear that Rancho California and Ynez roads are poised to become a hub of activity and enjoyment for families and residents alike. With the approval secured, we can look forward to welcoming these new additions to our vibrant community soon.
